alright mamas. this one is for you.
the other week i posted on instagram about my mom hack of color coordinating all your kids clothes. y’all went over the top bananas. lost your dang minds. in fact. many of you told me that i was brilliant. i’m here for those compliments. you all were so intrigued by this concept of color palette-ing wardrobes. so much so that i felt you all deserved an entire blog post about it. the how. the why. and all the deets.
I can promise you. if you love me for nothing else in this corner of the internet . . . you will love me for this. it will be a game changer in your home. guar-an-teed.
so . . . we have all been there. the tireless battle with your tot over what they are going to wear that day. but then you just wave your white flag and let them pick out their own outfits. because honestly . . . pick your dang battles.
the five year old wants to wear the three year olds camo joggers with his t-ball jersey. layered underneath the paw patrol swim shirt that aunt peggy bought him last year. with knee high socks. on the outside of said joggers. with sweat bands around both wrists. and an american flag baseball hat.
okkkkk.
then three year old wants to wear big brothers jean shorts. with his pajama shirt. with red socks & his cleats.
okkkkk.
now i am all for artistic expression. in fact. many a years i let my rascals pick out their own outfits. own it. ownnnn it. until i started to feel the tiniest tinge of embarrassment that my kids looked like complete ragamuffins.
ya the ragamuffin brothers. its cute. until its not. and i decided that this no longer needed to be a battle i had to fight any longer. i could have complete control over what these boys were wearing . . . all the while letting them believe they were making all the sartorial choices.
color. coordinate. all. the. kids. clothes.
mom:1 kids:0
literally. pick the color palette that youuu want them to wear. and buy all the things in those colors. the shirts. the shorts. the pants. the jackets. all in that same color scheme. then donate everything else in their closet. then no matter what they pull out to wear that day . . . they look darling. and they all coordinate.
this gives them the pride of feeling like they are making their own choices. and it gives you the pride of no longer herding a bunch of ragamuffins around. its a win-win. and for real. the daily battles are gone. just tell those kiddos to go pick out their outfit {from the selection that you have already handpicked for them}

cannot wait for you to implement this super easy mom hack into your lives. i am always looking for ways to simplify & eliminate any hurdles. this is a practical way to do just that.
here’s to happy kids. happy mamas. and effortless mornings of getting dressed!
