if i could enjoy all my meals outdoors. i certainly would. there is something that i just enjoy so greatly about being outside with good food and good company. dining alfresco . . . it’s a simple joy.
when my dad and i built our little picnic table… i wanted to make sure it was portable and collapsible. that way i could bring it any where and every where that i wanted to picnic. the beach. the park. the pier. wherever. but ironically enough… our first picnic with the table was in our front yard.
just evidence enough that you do not have to do anything elaborate or extravagant to create memories. picnicking in the front yard of your home adds some simple sweetness that i really love.
i can envision the boys when they get older… remembering the fun of tuscan backyard picnic. good stuff.
for this little tuscan backyard picnic. we kept it super super simple. no fuss, all fun. i went with a tuscan-inspired décor. bringing in rustic elements. a lot of greenery. and the simplistic beauty of the summertime in the italian countryside.
now isn’t that just lovely?
a few tips for you . . . to recreate this look. find décor objects with varying textures. i brought in wicker baskets. pottery pieces. a big wooden cheese board. a woven table runner. and wild and unruly greens. the contrasting textures bring such depth.
as far as the menu goes… keep it super simple. i served brie. crusty bread. and a lot of berries. oh. and sparkling rose. of course. that’s it. so very simplistic… and so very delicious.
if you are a sucker for the little details . . . listen up. keep the vibe extra rustic by doing these three things:
i can’t wait to see how you recreate this look! be sure to tag me in your photos.
and praise be for picnic season!
