if I could enjoy all my meals outdoors, I certainly would. there is something that I just enjoy so greatly about being outside with good food & good company. dining alfresco . . . its a simple joy.
when my dad and I built our little picnic table, I wanted to make sure it was portable & collapsible. that way I could bring it any where and every where that I wanted to picnic. the beach, the park, the pier, wherever. but ironically enough, our first picnic with the table was in our front yard.
just evidence enough that you do not have to do anything elaborate or extravagant to create memories. picnicking in the front yard of your home adds some simple sweetness that I really love.
I can envision the boys when they get older, remembering the fun of picnicking in our own yard. good stuff.
for this little picnic, we kept it super super simply. no fuss. all fun. I went with a tuscan inspired decor. bringing in rustic elements, a lot of greenery, and the simplistic beauty of the summertime in the Italian countryside.
now isn’t that just lovely? it was the perfect little picnic.
a few tips for you . . . to recreate this look, find decor objects with varying textures. I brought in wicker baskets, pottery pieces, a big wooden cheese board, a woven table runner, and wild & unruly greens. the contrasting textures bring such depth.
as far as the menu goes. keep it super simple. I served brie, crusty bread, and a lot of berries. oh and sparkling rose, of course. that’s it. so very simplistic. so very delicious.
